In order to inform policy developments and discussions, the Association of Latin American and the Caribbean ccTLDs has published its report on the latest ICANN Public Meeting.
The document reviews the main sessions of interest to the ccTLD community, held at ICANN70 Virtual Community Forum. The LACTLD Report also covers the Virtual ccTLD News Sessions organized by the ccNSO prior to the Public Meeting.
For the fourth time, due to the pandemic, the ICANN meeting was held virtually. It took place between March 22 and 25, with an ICANN Prep Week from March 8 to 11. A total of 71 sessions were held, with 1,537 participants and 22 fellows, among other data.
At ICANN70, the ccTLD community focused its discussions on the governance of the ccNSO, emerging trends, the future of ccTLDs and digital sovereignty. In addition, ICANN community members had the opportunity to learn about regional developments in the LAC Space and participate in a series of sessions on DNS abuse organized by the GNSO and the GAC. It is worth noting, Luis Arancibia, President of the Association, presented the Illegal Content Forum (a LACTLD initiative) during the LAC Space.
